Small Promises Tracker

Keep a few promises so small they are hard to break. A missed day is information, not a failure, and it never resets the week.

When to Use

  • When you want to try a few short commitments with room for change.
  • When a missed day makes you want to abandon a plan.
  • When you want to review what was realistic over a week.

How to Use

  1. 1
Write up to three promises, each taking under five minutes, and a tiny version of each for a hard day.
  2. 2
Mark each day as the full version, tiny version or a miss, without restarting the week.
  3. 3
After a miss, note what got in the way, consider a smaller version and the next easy chance.
  4. 4
At the end of the week count days with any promise kept and note what you learned; a word for the day is optional.

A small promise can be adapted to a difficult day. This optional tracker treats a missed day as information rather than a reason to punish yourself or start the week over.

The page has three promise cards with tiny alternatives and a weekly strip for marking the full version, tiny version or a miss. You can note what got in the way, shrink the promise and choose another easy opportunity.

Optional and private. A promise should never put your health, safety or sleep at risk. If low mood or exhaustion lasts for weeks, a health professional can help.
